Are you trending? Current trends you'll want in your closet this spring and summer.

Posted on April 11 2017

I am not one to obsess over trends or chase every trend out there. I look for trends I genuinely like and can easily incorporate into my wardrobe and style. This spring and summer the trends I am loving are:

Blush Color- The New Neutral
This soft and feminine color is showing up everywhere from accessories to apparel and will be huge this spring and summer (& hopefully beyond). Consider blush the new neutral in your wardrobe. I love this color trend not only because it's a beautiful color but because it will be easy to pair with the clothes you already own. A few ways to incorporate this new color without breaking the bank:

Pick up a blush colored scarf to incorporate this trend in an inexpensive way.

A blush colored lightweight sweater will look great with the dark, white or black denim jeans you already own. A lightweight sweater is great to have in your close because you can wear it alone or use it as a layering piece year round.

A cute pair of blush colored sandals will keep you on point this summer.

Ruffles and Bell Sleeves - Yay and nay
I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of the bell sleeve trend but I'll play along, the ruffles I love. I'm seeing dramatic bell sleeves for when you want to make a statement as well as minimal bell sleeves if you just want to flirt with this trend. Since I like to get the most bang for my buck if I buy a new piece, I decided to incorporate both trends into one top.

I know what you're thinking...you said you don't chase trends, Amy. I don't, but I invested in this piece because it incorporates two trends into one and I can continue to wear this blouse long after this bell sleeve trend passes. This blouse from Ann Taylor is super cute with the tiny polka dots and is perfect for layering under a blazer. I will get the most out of this blouse by incorporating it into my wardrobe in different ways. It's a win-win. I'm on trend now with the sleeves and ruffles and have a wardrobe staple in my closet that can be worn year round.

Eyelet Pattern - I'm in love!

I am so happy to see this cute and feminine pattern take hold this spring and summer. You'll see it on tops, dresses, and skirts all spring and summer long. I gave this adorable pattern a try with this dress from Marshals. I could dress this up with heels, jewelry, and the right purse or keep it casual with sneakers or sandals.

Off the Shoulder, One Shoulder & Open Shoulder - Ladies, get your strapless bras in order, this is the rage right now!

It's almost harder to find a top that is not an open shoulder or off the shoulder top on the racks right now. This trend has some staying power. I've had my eye on a top from the Loft that I linked to above but I am waiting for it to go on sale. I love this off the shoulder look because I am not a huge fan of my arms and don't love a sleeveless top. These off the shoulder looks cover my arms in just the right spot.
